Platform Solutions for Smart Cities
What it is?According to the UN, in 2025 almost 70% of our planet’s population will live in cities. Cities are and will be the main centers of economic life, innovation, and consumption of all types of resources. We believe that digital, especially platform-based technologies can offer great opportunities for this, and we believe that we have a lot to offer urban communities in terms of smart and frugal use of resources applying distributed ledger technologies.
What do we do?We prepare integrated solutions to combine these two inevitable trends: urbanization and platform-based digitalization. In 2022, we started preparing a number of publications in English that are printed in Ukraine and are publicly available online. We investigate methods for evaluating the effectiveness of smart cities, statistical measurement of processes, operational management while implementing new digital solutions, modeling financial consequences of application, etc.
Why is this important?If we do not study this area having digital expertise, our experts will de-facto remove themselves from impacting some broad social and economic processes in which they are anyway guaranteed to participate.
What are the prospects?These prospects are undoubtedly global and long-term for both scientists and practitioners who actually develop and implement such solutions. We are in the progress of preparing some original solutions and their broader combinations for the recovery and modernization of Ukraine after its victory in the war. We are open to the formation of some research and interdisciplinary long-term alliances with European colleagues.
